OZZY OSBOURNE Says Some Cover Songs Were Recorded Under Odd Circumstances

April 8, 2005

Launch Radio Networks reports that the cover songs included on OZZY OSBOURNE's box set "Prince of Darkness" are all favorites of his, but that doesn't mean they were easy to do. Osbourne laid down some of his vocals while on his annual Ozzfest tour last year, and he told Launch that not every track was done in a proper studio setting. "One of the most memorable times was down, we were down in West Palm Beach, Florida," he said. "And I'm watching the television, and it's a hurricane, the biggest hurricane ever to hit in this side of the world. I'm down in the basement with a portable ProTools recording system. and they're nailing up planks on the windows, and I'm singing a bunch of songs! We should have filmed all that, because people won't, won't believe it, you know?"

This year's Ozzfest, which is the 10th edition of the touring festival, gets under way July 15 in Mansfield, Massachusetts. The headliners are BLACK SABBATH and IRON MAIDEN, with ROB ZOMBIE, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, and MUDVAYNE also on the bill. VELVET REVOLVER will do 10 shows at the end of the run, including the final seven when they replace MAIDEN in the Number Two slot.
